Pet-Friendly Air Travel

Not all airlines are created equal when it comes to cozy comfort for dogs. Your puppy will fly in
a safe, pressurized, temperature-controlled cabin, not to be confused with cargo!
Puppies typically travel to their new home around the 8-week mark. Small breed puppies
cannot leave home until they are at least 2 pounds or 12 weeks of age. This weight threshold
will not be determined until the puppy reaches the 8-week mark.

Snub-Nosed Breeds

Some popular breeds often categorized as snub-nosed dogs or short-nosed dogs (e.g., American
Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, Boxers, English or French Bulldogs, King Charles Spaniels, Lhasa Apso,
Mastiffs, Pugs, Shar-Peis and Shih Tzus) simply do not fly well as they have difficulty breathing
even under normal conditions but when subjected to higher altitudes in pressurized,
temperature controlled cargo holds their respiratory conditions do not respond well. If Fido is
of a snub-nosed breed, he might not be allowed to fly commercial unless accompanied in the
cabin. In cases like these, our travel specialists will work with you and your puppy's breeder to
determine the best way to get your puppy home.
